Chemistry revision is easier when it is spread out and active. Re-reading notes tends to feel useful without producing much retention.
Use active recall
Close the notes and write down everything you remember about a topic, then check what was missing. Gaps found this way stick better.
Space your topics
Return to each topic several times with growing gaps between visits instead of one long block. Mix in earlier topics during later weeks.
Split each session
- 10 minutes of recall from memory.
- 30 minutes of exam-style questions, including calculations.
- 10 minutes reviewing errors and adding them to your log.
